Boob Tube

Just hanging with Grandpa, watching some Tee Bee.

Happy Birthday Oscar

We had a fun afternoon helping Oscar celebrate his second birthday. Danielle made sure there were plenty of party hats for us all to get in the spirit.
Here Bridgette, Winnie, Oscar and Graham re-enact those crazy phone booth stunts from the 60's:

Baby Carly tried to convince me it's time to start trying for #2. Seriously, could that face BE any cuter?

Here's the owl art smock I sewed for Oscar's gift. I can't wait to see some of his masterpieces!

Go Fetch

Korky has finally decided that Graham has more to offer than the crumbs he drops from the table.

I'm not sure they are clear that the participant with 4 legs should be the fetchee, but they have a good time none the less :).

The Maritime Aquarium

We spent our Friday morning in Connecticut making new friends at the Aquarium.

The sting rays and seals were the show stoppers. I was hoping that the Otters, Sharks and Jelly Fish (AKA Helly Fish) would be equally impressive, but I have a feeling Graham might have thought he was watching some majorly big televisions instead of seeing real animals behind glass.

The otter was, "Cute!"

He refused to roll up his sleeves to touch the sting rays.

This magnifying glass was attached to a gold fish tank.

The seal feeding really held his interest. My favorite part was watching the seal who just had cataracts remove get her eye drops. For real.

And while we didn't successfully capture a photo of the three of us smiling, we had a great time!

Road Trip

We made a quick trip to CT, combining some business with pleasure. While I met with clients, Jim got to see sisters, nephew, nieces, Mom and Grandma. Graham had a great time with cousin Rachael who introduced him to the joys of playdough!

Story time

So, we're a story-before-bed kind of family from way back. It's the perfect way to wind down before lights out. Lately story time has gotten longer, as Graham is more engaged with identifying letters of the alphabet, talking about the illustrations and most recently wanting to be "The Reader". Thanks to some very formulaic, yet engaging texts, he's in the driver seat. We managed to catch a couple favorites on video last week... first up, Sandra Boynton's Blue Hat, Green Hat. Grab a cup of warm milk, your favorite blanket and enjoy!

And our favorite animal noise book, Moo, Baa, La La La:

*and yes, those are the best sheets ever, flannel sock monkeys, a gift from my sisters and available from The Vermont Country Store.

It's Curtains

It only took a year, but the new curtains are sewn and hanging... don't tell, but they still need to come down to be hemmed... Jim still needs to install the tie backs... ahh the never ending project....

Pastoral Weekend

What started as Friday night dinner quickly become a weekend long extravaganza out at the farm. Graham made it known that he'd be sleeping over as he dismissed Jim and I at bedtime and sent us back to Oneonta to take care of the pups.
We returned Saturday morning -- and there was so much to do, we didn't leave until Sunday night.

We were hoping to sled but it was really just too cold. But back in the house I was granted permission to take Mom's new sewing machine for a spin. Wow. I think I need a new sewing machine :)! I completed a baby quilt and Mom helped me wrangle the new living room curtains that had been haunting me for months.

Graham had a great time helping in the kitchen.

And helping himself as well. He loved Patty's homemade crescent rolls so much that we had to literally chase him around the house to get them back...

Jim and Graham reenacted a Christmas pose from 2007 and 2008. I don't know how many more years Jim's going to be able to lift Graham up-- he's getting so tall.

By suppertime Sunday we were all pretty slap happy.
Driving home, Graham was quick to use a new word: Sleepy.

Peppermint Sticks

It didn't happen for Christmas, but we did make our chocolate peppermint pretzel rods. Can you tell who was our Quality Control Specialist?

Happy New Year!

We spent the last night of 2009 splashing in the hot tub, eating snow...

and fighting an early bedtime!
All the best to our loyal blog readers for 2010,
Melissa, Jim and Graham
