This year's Jimapalooza was a little more understated than the last. A small but intrepid group enjoyed pulled pork with cole slaw; hot tubbing; and a delicious ganache brownie cake topped with vanilla ice cream and freshly picked cherry sauce. YUM!
This is Graham's friend Winnie from his class at the Library. She does sign language and she likes to share. She's also able to crawl which is something he has yet to master. But chasing a cute red head will certainly be a good motivator, I'm sure!
Jim and Graham modeling their Father's Day hats straight from the Fashion District of NYC. The men's size XS is only a teensy bit too big for Graham's big brain :).
I made a friend at the hat store. I also learned he had a second job at Dunkin Donuts when he came out on the street yelling my name the next morning at 5:45 AM as I walked to catch my bus. Who says New Yorkers aren't friendly?
At long last our new hardwood floor was installed last week in the living room and library. The dark color is delightful and they moved some heating vents around which helps to create a longer line between the rooms. It's gorgeous!
We celebrated the city's Centennial at the Ice Cream Social in the park. We were joined by Tobi, Lauren, Logan, Rene and Kate. And the thunderstorm held off long enough for us to enjoy our picnic and free ice cream, yum! I wish every Saturday could be as sweet.
...better than puppy biscuits. Seriously, if there is one thing that Graham, Korky, CC, Pepper and I can all agree on, it's how great this guy is. Husband, confidant, cuddler, father and friend. He's tops in every category.
It's not enough to have the world's coolest spraying baby pool (thanks, Grandma!). Graham also is now dominating the hot tub (which is at a cooler temp for the hot months, no worries). Put on your goggles; he loves to splash!
Last weekend Mom, Melissa and Graham came to visit Ethan and I in Geneva. Graham enjoyed some rye grass while relaxing on the sheep skin that was Ethan's Nanny's. He was also interested in trying some chocolate chip biscuits and listening to Ethan play the guitar. Graham was not so sure about the idea of the hammock yet.
Amanda has decided to reclaim the gorgeous oil painting she lent us. While I am so sad to see it go, I am also excited about the prospect of filling the space with something new. I haven't mentioned it to Jim, but I am toying with the idea of a painting of Graham... I found a couple sites that offer custom paint by numbers made from your own photos! Is it a bit sacreligious for a person with a studio art degree to order one of these, or can I call it kitsch and get away with it?
So I can officially add Major League Ballpark to places I have used my breastpump. I will give them a 3 on a scale of 1-10. There were 2 electricial outlets in the ladies room and only was 1 near the door. So at least there was the one not near the door. It could have been worse.
My work friends had a great time and my favorite part of the night was a 45 minute walk around the entire park to find the single stand that sold vegan hotdogs for my boss-lady Diane (she's the wavy lady in the pic). Good times. Too bad the vegan hotdog wasn't particularly tasty after all that.
I myself tried a version of the Philly cheesesteak that also incorporated salami. Yes, you read that right. It was on Mike's recommendation and in food things I usually trust him. I am giving it a 7 because I hadn't eaten anything since 11 am and frankly I was starving. On another day it might be more like a 4. Interesting but perhaps a little too wierd. I wonder how it would taste with a Bud and Clamato to wash it down?
While travelling to Geneva to visit Aunt Amanda and Ethan we took a much needed diaper change break at Taughannock Falls outside Ithaca. Taughannock's vertical drop of over 200 feet make it the highest single drop waterfall in the northeastern U.S. Graham was little impressed by the scenary but wanted desperately to be photographed by some other tourists. When they left without taking his pic, he registered his dismay with a discernable pout.
In the ongoing spirit of blog piracy, I've stolen the photo and blog entry below from Amanda and Ethan's web page, so those of you who don't visit there can still enjoy it. Thanks Amanda!
"Over the long Memorial day weekend C.C. took some time to hunt around for a new bed. She happened upon a heated one with a personal massager. It seems to suit her quite well. Meanwhile Pepper was looking for a back scratcher and discovered that C.C.'s bed had an attachment that was just right for her needs."
